| Utilities |
Village utility billings are for water, sewer and garbage usage. Sales tax charges are applied on water and sewer. A $50 security deposit is required of all new patrons. This deposit is refundable upon moving out of the village. Please call the village clerk at 791-5544 to set up a utility account.
Utility rates are as follows:

$11.25 flat rate charge
$2.00 per each 1,000 gallons
Commercial (per month)
$13.00 flat rate charge
$2.10 per each 1,000 gallons

Residential: $16.25 per month
Commercial: Rate is based on amount of disposed material - billed directly by the hauler.
Utility bills are sent the first week of each month. You may mail your village utility bills to:

Utility bills are due the 25th of the current month. A $15 late fee is assessed on the 26th of the month. If the bill has still not been paid by the 1st of the next month, a shut-off notice will be sent. At that time the patron will have seven (7) days in which to pay the bill (including the $15 late fee). If the bill is still not paid at the end of this period, water service will be disconnected until the delinquent bill is paid along with a $15 restoration charge.
Garbage pickup is on Thursday mornings. Please have all garbage set out before 7:00am. Thanksgiving pickup will be on the following day (Friday). This also applies to Christmas and New Years Day (when they occur on a Thursday). Pickup on any other holiday that may fall on a Thursday will be done as a normal pickup day.
The garbage hauler will pick up most items. In the event you have old tires or appliances needing picked up please call to give the hauler notice.

Electric Bills are collected directly by Norris Public Power. Please call 423-3855 to set up electricity service.
Gas Bills are collected directly by the Black Hill Energy. Please call 800-303-0752 to set up gas service.

| Dogs |
The Village of Firth has an ordinance that requires all dogs be confined to the owner's premises at all times except when controlled by a leash. If a dog is found in violation of this ordinance, village maintenance will capture the dog and take it to the Capital Humane society in Lincoln. It will be the owner's responsibility to pay the required fees to retrieve the dog.
The Village board asks that you be considerate of your neighbors and keep your dog(s) from barking excessively. When walking your dog, please pick up after it.
At this time the Village does not require licensing of dogs.

| Junked Cars |
The Village of Firth has an ordinance concerning junked cars. This ordinance prohibits the keeping of unregistered, wrecked or junked vehicles. Fines will be imposed for violations of this ordinance.

| Brush Dump |
The dump is located directly South of the soccer and ball fields. It is for village patron use only. Only brush, trees, leaves, grass clippings and garden items (i.e. corn stalks, etc.) are to be deposited in the dump. All other matter is to be removed by the garbage hauler. The state monitors this situation and dump privileges will be suspended in the case of violations. Please understand that your cooperation is necessary to keep this service available to the Village.

| Recycle Center |
Firth has a recycle center for the use of all village and community residents. The recycle center is located behind the community center and mortuary. It is easily accessible through the alley from both 3rd and 4th streets.

| Community Center |
The Community Center is located at 311 Nemaha. It is available for use by the community. If you have need for use of the building, please call the Village Clerk at 560-5767 to check on available dates and/or to reserve the facility.

| Park |
The village park is located across from the business district. Use of the facilities is on a first come-first served basis and no reservations are made for the park shelters.

| Fire Department |
Firth is served by the Firth Rural Fire District. If you are interested in serving on the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Unit, Please contact Chuck Krogman, Fire Chief: 788-2520 or talk to any current volunteer.

| Tornado Protection |
A long, continuous blast of the Village fire siren is used to warn of the possibility of an approaching tornado. The siren is tested the first Wednesday of each month at approximately 10:15am.
